Cornhole League Rules & Regulations

League Overview

  • Teams consist of two (2) players.
  • Teams can consist of any format: Male-Male, Female-Female, or Male-Female.
  • All players must be 16 years of age or older to participate.
  • League runs for 8 weeks total.
  • Weeks 1–7: Regular season gameplay. Week 8: Playoffs.
  • Each league night consists of a doubleheader.
  • Each match is Best 2 out of 3 games.

Match Structure (Doubleheaders)

  • Each league night, teams play two (2) matches.
  • Each match is Best 2 out of 3 games.
  • Maximum of six (6) total games per night.

The Cornhole Bags

  • There should be 8 bags, 4 bags of each color, consisting of 2 teams. (Victory Lane can supply bags if your team needs them)
  • Each bag should be 6 inches and have 1 pound of corn inside.

The Cornhole Boards

  • Should be placed on a flat surface 27 feet apart (front to front).
  • The cornhole board surface should be 2 feet x 4 feet.

Scoring System (Point Method)

  • The score shall be taken after all cornhole bags have been thrown for a round.
  • 3 points — Cornhole bag that goes through the hole
  • 1 point — Cornhole bag that is on the playing surface
  • 1 point — Cornhole bag that is hanging into the hole
  • 1 point — Cornhole bag that is hanging off the edge, but not touching the ground
  • 0 points — Cornhole bag on the surface but touching the ground
  • 0 points — Cornhole bag on the surface but leaning on a bag that is on the floor
  • The first team to 21 points wins the game.
  • Must win by 2 points.
  • No bust rule – if a team exceeds 21, play continues until a team wins by 2.

League Standings & Points

  • Match win: 1 league point.
  • Match loss: 0 league points.
  • Game differential (games won minus games lost) is used as a tiebreaker.

Time & Conduct Rules

  • Players have 20 seconds to throw once it is their turn.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct or excessive delay results in a warning, followed by loss of round if continued.

Tie-Breakers

  1. Total league points
  2. Head-to-head record
  3. Game differential
  4. Total points scored
  5. Coin toss or bag shootout

Alcohol Policy

  • Alcohol is available for purchase on-site where permitted.
  • No outside alcohol is allowed.
  • Excessive intoxication or disruptive behavior may result in forfeiture or removal at the discretion of league management.

Substitutes

  • Substitutes must be registered and approved.
  • A substitute may only play for one team per season.
  • No substitutes are allowed during playoffs unless approved by the commissioner.

Playoffs (Week 8)

  • Top 4 teams will be included in playoff bracket.
  • Rest of the teams will play consolation games to finish out the season.
  • Playoff format will be Best 2 out of 3 matches.
  • Championship match is Best 2 out of 3 matches.

Cornhole Game Fouls

A foul occurs when any of the following happen:

  • Foot foul — Cornhole player's foot goes past the foot foul line
  • Out of turn — A player goes out of turn

The player who caused the foul loses the throw when the foul occurred, and the bag shall be removed if it landed on the playing surface.
